What's everyone's plans for this big holiday weekend? It's hard to believe that summer is coming to a close already! For those of us who live in the USA and Canada this is a 3 day holiday weekend and the last fling of summer. The weather is supposed to be great here for all three days so my family will be going to a family picnic on Sunday and then Monday we'll be going out on a boat with some friends for a day of fun in the sun.

So Jim I'm sure you'll be celebrating the fact that Spring has sprung!
I didn't know your seasons started on the 1st of the month. Ours start on the 21st of the month. I think I'd like them starting on the 1st of the month like yours!
Seasons in Australia Spring September 1 Summer December 1 Autumn March 1 Winter June 1

Are you in a snow area and when does that normally start?

The part of Michigan I'm in generally doesn't get the first snow until around the end of November, but it usually melts very quickly. Then around the 3rd week of December (around Christmas) we get our first real snowfall that stays for awhile. The snowfall seems to have diminshed greatly overall, but we got hit pretty hard last winter. They say we're in for another winter of lots of snow. I hate snow!! We really need it though because the great lakes water levels have been dropping at an alarming rate. It's causing a problem for all the big shipping freighters because they have to carry a lot less cargo now.
Btw, the snow ends around the end of March. Do you get snow where you are?

I'll probably spend the holiday packing. We're moving back home to New Orleans in a couple weeks, so I'll be busy trying to wrap things up here. Hope you guys enjoy your vacation, Victoria!
And enjoy the first day of spring, Jim!

Now that the 900 mile trip from Fargo ND, to Denver CO is done, the rest of our 'holiday' weekend is being spent unpacking boxes. Moving our stuff from storage to the 3rd floor condo we rented wasn't as bad as anticipated, hubby's company hired 2 people to do all the heavy lifting and climbing of stairs, but it was still exhausting!
I know it's not the type of holiday weekend most people enjoy, but I'm happy. I am told it usually snows in Denver by halloween, but doesn't really accumulate till later in the season. As of today, we are still experiencing temperatures into the 90's. Right now the days are warm, and the nights are delightful, with an amazing view of the mountains from my living room.
