I'm just curious to see how many of you are cooking Christmas dinner this year. If you are cooking, what do you plan on having? I'm not fond of turkey and I especially don't like the taste of turkey the next day so I think my turkey days are over! I'm thinking about making a standing rib roast for Christmas dinner. I've never made one so maybe it's not the time to experiment! Maybe I'll get some ideas from your posts!

Well, i still don't know where Christmas is gonna be this year. it used to be 1 year in my house and the next at my mother's, but cause her house is rather cold people like to come to mine (what a work lool). AT the same time my nephews like to sleep at grandmother's, cause so they don't have to leave the house late at night, and my mother has plenty of rooms (old and big house). So we never know what they want to do.
Anyway, about food, here in Portugal, at dinner we use to make cod stew with a special sauce. Every kitchen at Christmas night in Portugal cooks cod lool.
AT Christmas day, we also use to have stuffed turkey, but just like you people and myself also tired of eating turkey every year, so last year we already cooked another thing.
I still don't know what we ara gonna eat, cause i leave it to my mother to decide, but it will de for sure some kind of roast beef.
For us, so, we have 2 big meals, 1 at previous Chrismas night and the one of the day.
We also use to open the presents the previous night, always around midnight, and what a confusion lool.

Christmas is a little more laid back (lazy) for us. I usually bake a ham or buy one from the Honey-Baked Ham Store. I think a Standing Rib Roast would be an excellant idea Victoria. As far as trying something different, well it kind of depends on whose coming for Christmas Dinner. If it is someone you need to impress. I say stick with what you know. If its just close family I say go for different. lol. I've never actually cooked one either.

We have never had Christmas dinner in my family. We have homemade cinnamon roles in the morning, along with, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and fruit. The whole extended family have breakfast and then we go on our own "merry" way. Usually we eat breakfast closer to lunch, so we're not that hungry for a big dinner. Our big family fancy dinner is Thanksgiving, and I guess none of us wants to tackle a second one just a month later. On Christmas Eve we get together and have hor's Doeuvres and drink eggnog and hot mulled cider. Yum! Some friends of ours always have a standing rib roast, but I've never cooked one either. Actually, I really hate to cook. So I'm teaching my children. Hope everyone has a very happy holiday season!

No Christmas dinner being cooked here. Just a lot of baking to take over to friends' houses. That's why I've been eating too many cookies!

I honestly don't know what our Christmas plans are. If I had my way, we'd eat some pillsbury grands biscuits in the morning, then drive up into the mountains and hit the casino for brunch!
This is my first 'unencumbered' Christmas, unless something family oriented comes up at the last minute, so quite frankly I'm looking forward to 'winging it' for once in my life!

I love everyone's plans! Since we take turns having Christmas I'm usually the one making a dish to pass as well as some Christmas cookies, but this year it's my turn to have Christmas dinner at our house. I've been baking cookies and decorating the house. Shopping and wrapping gifts. Whoever invented gift bags is my hero for life!

Whoever invented gift bags is my hero for life! Oh Victoria, I couldn't agree with you more! Those things are the best! And can be found for a great bargain in dollar stores and closeout stores as well. Love them!
